New Workflow Update: Flexible Testing & Treatment Cash Pay Pricing Structure
We're excited to announce an important update to the Testing and Treatment workflows that enhances flexibility for both pharmacy teams and patients, which will be live in the platform next week. This change aims to better reflect the clinical nature of these encounters and ensure billing aligns with the care provided.
What’s New?
Previously, patients selected their desired test(s)—such as strep, COVID, or flu—before arriving at the pharmacy. Pricing was calculated based on those pre-selected tests. However, once in the pharmacy, a pharmacist might determine that a different or additional test was appropriate, sometimes resulting in mismatches between care and cost.
Additionally we did not have the ability to add in a separate charge to cover the visit itself, just the test, which meant pharmacies might not have been maximizing their revenue opportunity with these patients.
Patients will still register for ‘Testing and Treatment’, but will not be prompted to select a specific test prior to completing the patient questionnaire. This allows pharmacists to use their clinical judgment during the visit to determine which tests are appropriate and then also be compensated appropriately for both their time and the cost of the test(s) administered.
Key Changes:
- Patients can now register for Testing and Treatment with no test selection required in advance.
- A Clinical Visit Fee will be charged in addition to the cost of any tests performed.
- Pharmacies have more flexibility in determining the most appropriate test(s) during the visit.
What You Need to Do:
Our platform will carry over your current test kits and pricing without any action by you, however to take advantage of the more comprehensive pricing structure, please log in to your Workflow Services Web Portal and:
- Navigate to the Pricing tab
- Review and update the prices for the tests you offer
- Add your Clinical Assessment Fee
This change not only improves the patient experience by streamlining the registration process, but also supports your pharmacy's clinical role and enhances billing accuracy.
