To perform a test for a patient without providing treatment (e.g. a prescription for an antiviral or antibiotic), you will use the test administration workflows.
Nearly all workflows start with the patient registering for services. If you're unfamiliar with this process, see the Patient Self-Registration article.
This video will go through how to administer a test.
Setting Up the Test
When you're ready to perform the test:
-
Tap on Administer Test
-
Search for your patient
-
If the patient has already registered for testing and has their QR Code handy, you will use the Search by Test Subject ID option.
- If they do not have their QR Code, you can search for them using the Search by last name/DOB option.
-
- If the patient is not found, you can create them in the mobile application directly.
- See this article on creating patients in the mobile application for step-by-step instructions.
- For customers processing payment through Workflow Services, the next screen will have you confirm Payment Information for the patient.
-
- Add a credit card or select the one the patient used during registration.
- Indicate if you intend to bill insurance and add an insurance card or select the one the patient used during registration. Workflow Services will then perform a real-time eligibility check.
-
-
Next, you will select the test kit that you will be using from the drop down.
-
Scan the barcode on test kit box to pull in the lot number and expiration date automatically. For tests that have not been configured with barcode scanning, manually type in the lot & expiration date.
- Tap Next to proceed to the next screen.
- The final step before collecting the sample from the patient is to verify the patient's contact details. This will determine where results will be sent as soon as they are entered into the system. Verify what is configured is correct, tap Opt In if the patient has not selected a contact preference, or tap Modify to make changes to the information entered.
- Collect the sample from the patient
- At this point the workflow diverges depending on your physical workflows.
- If you have additional tests to administer while you're waiting on the result, you'll want to tap Save and Enter Result Later to save the data and get back to the workflow screen.
- If you are going to wait and enter the result for this test right away when it's ready, you can tap on Next to go to the results entry page. The device can then be left either with the screen on or turned off while you wait for the results to be ready.
Entering in Test Results
If you saved & exited the workflow, you'll first need to look up the patient again. Tap on the Enter Completed Test Result workflow button on the home screen and search for the patient.
If did not save & exit the workflow, you can proceed to enter the result for this test.
- Tap on the result of the test.
- For digitally read tests, confirm that the test reading device matches the image on the screen to proceed.
- Tap Next.
-
Optionally, take a picture of the test result as an added layer of certainty. This image is saved in our database, but it is not sent to the patient.
-
Tap Next and verify that all of the information displayed is correct.
- For customers processing payment through Workflow Services, tap on the Review Billing button and enter the details of the visit.
- Choose how to charge the patient for the visit (cash or card)
- Tap Continue to return to the summary screen
-
Tap Save and Exit Session to complete the workflow.
-
At this time all of the information has been submitted to our database, reported to state & federal health agencies for tests with a COVID component, and the patient should receive their result by email or SMS if they opted-in.
